Re-print of the only known map to have been drawn by the grandson of Gerard Mercator: MICHAEL MERCATOR (C. 1567-1600)

First printed in 1595, this floral map was included in Gerard Mercator’s Atlantis pars altera.

This map shows some of the past cartographic beliefs and oddities. You can spot a large inland lake in Canada, two of the four islands of the North Pole, a bulge on South America’s west coast and a very large southern continent.
